Opening Ceremony for KSP World Tour

Ho’okipa Beach, Hawaii – November 22, 2013: The Cabrinha Kite Surf Pro Maui was opened today with a traditional Hawaiian Blessing at Ho’okipa Beach bringing together tour riders, local riders, crew members and sponsors. The ceremony was started off with opening remarks from Maui’s Mayor Arakawa and continued with Hawaiian chanting, dancing and the gift of lei.

Following the beautiful ceremony at stunning Ho’okipa Beach, the first riders’ meeting was held by Contest Director Bruno De Wannemaeker. During the meeting, the draw for the qualification round as well as the seeding for the main event were assembled.

The qualification round will see the following riders battle it out for the 2 local wild cards and 4 remaining main event slots:

Heat 1: Niccolo Porchela, Franciso Porcella, Yuri D'Ottavi, Jesse Richman, Wes Anderson, Damien Girardin, Rafal Maleszyk

Heat 2: Olivier Sautet, Evan Netsch, Francesco Maffei, Tiago Candelot, François Collin, Jérémy Lentz, Teddy Lyons

Heat 3: Shawn Richman, Kai Lenny, Devin Moody, Top Hat, Fabricio Negri, Chris Armitage, Todd Davis

Due to the lack of wind a lay day was called for today and the next riders meeting will take place tomorrow morning at 10am.
